I like the idea of keeping a small amount of rage inside everything I make, no matter how gentle it might appear, no matter how loving it’s supposed to be. Not anger exactly. Something quieter; not explosive. A sizzle. A simmering rage, the kind that sits somewhere between frustration, resignation, vindictiveness, and wit. Something that makes me feel alive in the sense that it is utterly unacceptable for me to die today.

I love the sensation of touching fabric as I work on it, holding with my left hand, and stitch by stitch, inserting my time with my right. By doing so, I can feel myself entering the fabric and it accepting me…A place that remembers me, I long for that as well. Being forgotten is frightening, perhaps that is why I sew every day. By binding myself into the fabric, I hope that my presence will not disappear.
