FAYE ABANTAO

Largely a self-taught artist, she developed an exemplary multi-disciplinary practice of photography, digital printing, origami, print and painting. In overlapping sequence, the string of procedures begins with a camera and culminates with paint and brushes; giving her imageries their distinct visual form.
The focus of her artistry is weaving in stories from the used books that she uses into the diorama presented through her work. She visually represents herself with profiles and portraits of the human condition. She imitates life through the impact of culture and experiences to individuals. Her growth as an artist is reflected through her observations of humanity and the human experience.

She continues to follow her own development, creating work that is entrenched and inspired by contemporary scene, but is not bound by formula or category. Her works have been noted for their distinct aesthetics and use of monochrome, which are common threads throughout her work—whether depicting a personal experience, a portrait, or solitude in a peculiar context, they stand apart.

In recent years, she further honed her skill with her current work as a graphic designer in one of the design studios in the city and also having committed herself to art she endures to challenge herself creatively by approaching each artwork as an opportunity to try something new.
This allows her never ending room to grow and experiment.
