I own my body, mind, spirit, and senses.
I am my own person.
I am no ones but mine.
OWN honors the Filipino woman—at how far she has come, how much farther she needs to navigate her present, and persist with what lies ahead. The exhibition aims to weave their contemporary narratives rooted in collective history and reflected through distinct personalities. At different stages in their lives, the primary query offered to each is – what does it mean to you to be a Filipino woman today?
The issues they face are diverse and shared. Grappling with concerns about family, motherhood, identity, career, mental health, bodily autonomy, human rights, social, economic, and political —all personal. Exploring messages that are authentic to themselves they tap into their birthrights to self-expression, freedom of choice, and heritage that examine our unified and individual cultures across the archipelago.
