Chesca Santiago was awarded the PKL Prize in Art Criticism for her essay, “Against Community as Moral Currency,” which earned her a month-long writer’s residency at Orange Project. As part of her engagement with the community, she contributed to the exhibition “Gahum kag Pagtubo,” a show featuring seven remarkable women artists from Negros, by writing its exhibition statement. Alongside fellow researchers, Chesca also initiated the first Naranja Dialogues—a conversation series designed to bring together artists and researchers working with communities, with the goal of promoting fair, ethical, and meaningful practices in both the art and academic fields.
