In a blank canvas, a picture begins to form when lines intersect and colors blend. Often, the details are ignored when looking at the big picture. But in White Lines, these fundamental components–lines and colors–are given emphasis, leaving the pictures they form in the background.
White lines painted on the pavement indicate traffic traveling in your direction. Broken white lines mean you may change lanes if it is safe to do so. In contrast, solid white lines require you to stay within the lane and they also mark the shoulder of the roadway.
White lines outline our paths. They dictate how we should live our lives–to move forward, to take a turn, or to stop. White lines are precise, clean, and flawless. They may leave you wondering… Where do they lead to? What do they hide?
When following our paths, we may sometimes create unnatural solid blank bars. These blank bars get filled with red, blue, yellow and black–colors that birth endless possibilities and unique pictures with unique stories.
White Lines is an exhibition that speaks of purity and concealment in the most beautiful and precise way. It breaks down the outcomes of the paths we take in life into its basic components–our choices and experiences.
