It's A Woman's World

“IT’S A WOMAN’S WORLD: VARIOUS LANDSCAPES EXPLORED THROUGH THE EYES OF FOUR WOMEN ARTISTS”

Text by Marz Aglipay

Cebu’s Qube Gallery is proud to present “It’s A Woman’s World,” an exclusive all-women lineup featuring the exceptional talents of Amanda LuYm, Jewelle Yeung, Janine Barrera, and Golda King.

This exhibition delves into the myriad perspectives of women artists who defy conventional aesthetics through their artistry, spotlighting those who weave vulnerability into their creative process to produce works enriched by multicultural perspectives and life experiences.

These four artists share a history of collaboration with Qube Gallery and bring their multicultural backgrounds to their work, infusing their rich personal narratives into their art. They challenge traditional expectations of art by women, united by a common theme: the exploration of landscapes — both literal and metaphorical — through their unique lenses.

Amanda LuYm invites viewers into landscapes that transcend traditional notions of time and space, while Jewelle Yeung’s abstract works navigate the shifting landscapes of the mind. Janine Barrera offers new works highlighting her practice as an impressionistic contemporary landscape artist, and Golda King presents deeply personal portrayals of scenery rooted in her own current state of mind.

Each artist has previously held successful exhibitions at Qube Gallery, underscoring the gallery’s commitment to nurturing and showcasing women artists with strong connections to the Queen City of the South.

“It’s A Woman’s World” will highlight the artists’ distinct aesthetics and narratives, allowing for appreciation both on individual and collective levels. The exhibition unites these works into a cohesive narrative to capture the authenticity of their experiences as women artists.
